Treasurer’s Report - AGM 2021
Attached to this report are the annual accounts for the Hāwea Community Association (Inc.), for the year ending 31 July 2021, as reviewed by Ron Sasse, Chartered Accountant of Invercargill.
The HCA is in a strong position financially, with a surplus of $34,308 for this financial year. Perhaps worth bearing in mind that without the QLDC Playgrounds grant of $40,000 we would be registering a deficit of $5,692.
The total Cash and Asset balance is recorded as $91,093. ($56,785. 2019/2020).
The QLDC Playgrounds grant of $40,000 was made to the HCA as a fund to support fundraising for the Playgrounds projects. The committee’s decision to designate the Watson donation of $15,000 received last year, towards the Playgrounds Projects, bolsters this to $55,000.
On the Income side:
Member subscriptions of $1,528 are a recovery from last year.
We thank the families and individuals who have paid a membership.
The Green Waste operation continues to be a great source of income for the HCA with income this year of $16,603 ($12,557 19/20). This figure surpasses figures of the last seven years.
We thank the Green Waste team of volunteers and the Operations Team for its management.
The Operations Team is John McCone, Owen Ford, Bruce Horrell, Paul Cunningham, John Osborne, Dennis Hughes and Laura Solbak. Laura acts as liaison between the Green Waste and HCA.
Thanks to Graeme Ballantyne, who is the coordinator of the roster of volunteers.
We thank too, Hamish and Erica Mackay of Hāwea Store & Kitchen, and their staff, for the collection of Green Waste monies and managing the keys to the Green Waste Centre.
The QLDC Annual Grant of $5,000 is a significant contribution to HCA projects.
We also received a grant of $1000 from the QLDC for our Anzac Day Commemoration.
The HCA is grateful for the positive relationship it has with Marie Day and Jan Maxwell of the QLDC.

2. Graham Moore for Grandview Creek planting, 2x $1,000 = $2,000.
