Proposed District Plan

Proposed District Plan (PDP)

QLDC’s District Plan review began in 2015. The Proposed District Plan (PDP) sets out to provide a more accessible and transparent plan that provides more certainty to property owners and a clear strategic direction for the district as well as additional scope for intensification in suitable locations.

Lake Hāwea’s Urban Growth Boundary

QLDC decided not to extend Lake Hāwea’s Urban Growth Boundary. However, Streets Development Ltd and Universal Developments have appealed this decision. If they win their appeal and the Urban Growth Boundary moves it will enable development of land south of Cemetery road beyond what has already received Resource Consent. Universal Developments would be able to develop land in addition to the Special Housing Area (SHA) which would not be constrained by the SHA deed and Streets would be able to reduce the size of the sections in their development.

Planning for Affordable Housing

In relation to the PDP, QLDC is currently consulting on Planning for Affordable Housing. Please go to QLDC’s Let’s Talk: Planning for Affordable Housing page to give your feedback.

Wāhi-Tūpuna

Wāhi Tūpuna are landscapes and places that embody the relationship of mana whenua and their culture and traditions with their ancestral lands, water, sites, wāhi tapu (sacred places), and other taoka (treasure). This chapter of the PDP aims to identify and recognise these areas to ensure that cultural values can be appropriately managed and protected.

Following initial submissions, HCA is no more submissions to make in relation to this Chapter of the PDP.
